This, understandably, made this little boy’s mother go completely insane, and she turned homicidal. For one, they never actually found Jason’s body after he drowned, which just spells trouble if you ask me. A special needs child named Jason Voorhees drowned in the lake while the camp counselors were off having sex, drinking, and/or doing drugs (we’re on to your midday work antics, teenage camp counselors), and this set off an unfortunate chain of events. This series tells the story of the aftermath of a tragic occurrence in the 1950s at Camp Crystal Lake (originally referred to as “Camp Blood” for obvious reasons). Yes, there are spoilers here, but if you care about that for a slasher film series that is 34 years old, I just don’t know what to say…įriday the 13th had its first film released in 1980 following the success of Halloween, a film which we will discuss later because I do love me some Michael Myers–so no worries. And as I’m sure you know, there are numerous films in this series (12 to be exact–don’t you think we deserve at 13th? Word is that they’re working on it!), and since almost all of the films are based loosely on the same plot, I am going to discuss the series as a whole. ![]() ![]() ![]() Part 3 of my Halloween film discussion covers the classic slasher Friday the 13th.
